Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown, PA on September 11 from 5-7:00 p.m. and registering their canvases. The Boyertown area community is registered as a participant and will be linked to artists painting around the world on the same weekend. An exhibit of the work completed during the event will be held at Studio B during Boyertown's Oktoberfest celebration, September 19, 2009.
Studio B Hosts Second Annual Plein Air Event
Studio B, Boyertown’s up and coming premier art gallery, will host a plein air event in conjunction with the International Plein Air Painters’ 7th Annual Worldwide Plein Air Paint Out, scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2009. All area artists are invited to participate. Registration and stamping of blank canvases will take place at Studio B, 39A E. Philadelphia Ave., on Friday, September 11 from 5-7:00 p.m.
Artists will set up their easels within the Borough of Boyertown on Saturday, September 12 and will have until 5:00 p.m. to complete their work. The public is invited to roam the town, meet the artists, and glimpse the works in progress; a list of the artists’ locations will be available at Studio B. Free parking is available at the Inner Core parking lot behind Bause’s Drugstore. This year the artist support area, with refreshments and restroom, will also be inside Studio beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
At 5:00 p.m. artists are invited to a reception at Studio B to share their work and enjoy refreshments with one another and interested members of the community. The artists will also be invited to exhibit their work at Studio B as part of Boyertown’s Oktoberfest, scheduled for September 19, 2009.
Plein air artists seek the quality of natural light and atmosphere outdoors. Their art work is in direct response to the beauty they find in nature. They use a variety of media, from oils through watercolors and pastels.
Plein air painting developed in France in the mid 19th century and is becoming increasingly popular. Last year's event drew artists from all over the globe as well as the surrounding area.
The International Plein Air Painters, which has members who reside throughout the world, is the blanket organization for individual plein air groups and was created for the sole purpose of advancing the execution and enjoyment of plein air painting without limitations of borders or regions. Its members share inspiration both on the Internet and at "paint outs” and encourage each other to get out and do it, to paint with other artists and share ideas.

Clayote has OPENED
As a clay/pottery studio; CLAYOTE is now OPEN for classes, events, corporate workshops, group mosaics and murals, birthday parties and "Clay- Dates"!
Chris Fisher and Danielle Millard-Wanner have come together with their children, pets and goals of cultivating celebration of life creatively in every community they encounter. Clayote is a collaboration of personal, whimsical fine art for sale, commissioned murals and mosaic/shadowbox installations, and community connection enhancement though classes and events for any age, ability, situation or background. Danielle's MUDPUPPIES and MUDSLINGER classes have had positive and enthusiastic support for the Northern Arizona communities for the past 7 years. The artwork has been enjoyable for collectors from all continents.

Building A Better Boyertown (BBB) has gotten permission from the Borough to close the Inner Core Lot on Saturday, September 19th in order for BBB to use the lot in conjunction with the Oktoberfest in Boyertown promotion it will hold that day. A small section of the Lot will need to be closed on Friday, September 18th in order to erect a tent that will serve as the center of the event. The entire lot will be closed from Saturday morning at 8:00 am through midnight on Saturday night. All vehicles will need to be removed from the Lot by 8 o’clock that morning, and none will be permitted to return to the Lot during those hours.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may create for any businesses, customers, and residents. We hope that by providing everyone with this extended notice, that any impact can be anticipated and managed. We anticipate bringing over 1000 people into Town for the day, and hope to raise several thousand dollars that can be spent through BBB to benefit all of us in Boyertown. Alternate parking will be available in the lots of: The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, National Penn Bank, Good Shepherd and St. John’s Churches.

Oktoberfest in Boyertown
Building a Better Boyertown (BBB) will host the 2nd annual "Oktoberfest in Boyertown" as a 3rd Saturday promotion and BBB community fundraiser.
The event will be held in the Borough's Inner Core parking area (off of South Reading Avenue) on Saturday, September 19, 2009 (rain date September 26)
"Oktoberfest in Boyertown" will be a celebration of the proud German heritage that the town still holds, serving beer brewed by Sly Fox Brewery, wine bottled by Blair and Manatawny Creek Wineries, and soda (at a minimal fee) in a "beer tent." The Boyertown Farmers' Market and an art and craft fair, by local artist and crafters will occupy the entire parking area from mid morning until the early evening. In the late afternoon and into the evening, a DJ will play music for everyone's enjoyment. Foods prepared by various local eateries will be offered.
This event will be a fund-raising effort for Building a Better Boyertown. If your business is interested in sponsoring this event please contact the event Committee Chair, Jeff Karver at 610.367.2148.

BBB Thanks the Community for 2008 Efforts
Building A Better Boyertown and the Boyertown Community Prove to be a Top 10 Success
The Pennsylvania Downtown Center (PDC) and the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) hosted the Annual Main Street and Elm Street Conference from June 7-10 in Johnstown Pennsylvania. Hundreds of people attended this conference representing their Main and Elm Street Communities from all over the state of Pennsylvania, to include Building A Better Boyertown’s (BBB) Main Street Manager, Heather Oxenford .
On the evening of June 9, the “Townie Awards” were presented to those communities and individuals who have exceeded the expectations of their program. During that award ceremony, the “Top 10” of communities was recognized for their outstanding performances in various areas.
In 2008, 83 Main Street programs throughout the state filed their “Quarterly Reports” with PDC proving the hard work and dedication that their communities have in supporting “Downtown”. There are several areas in which are required for these reports that display the commitment that each community has.
Out of these areas, Building A Better Boyertown was recognized in the “Top 10” out of 83 other Main Street programs in 3 areas for the year of 2008:
· #8 for “Business Retention”
Business retention is reported to the state for any assistance provided to a business owner in the Main Street District. This assistance is provided at no charge to the business owner by the Main Street Manager or a volunteer.
· #2 for the number of “Façade Improvements” completed
For the year of 2008, The Main Street District of Downtown Boyertown had 19 completed Façade Improvements. These improvements were all completed by local contractors with a private investment of $120,000 and a BBB investment of $90,000 through Façade Assistance.

#1 for “Volunteer Hours”
· BBB is a non-for-profit organization that depends greatly on volunteerism. In 2008, BBB reported over 7,000 hours of donated time by Boyertown Community Members and Stakeholders.
