Boyertown Unites

The Boyertown Community Joins Together in a Time of Need

Proving Boyertown to TRULY be “A SPECIAL KIND OF PLACE” neighboring Boyertown businesses such as: The Grill Shop and the Royal order of Raccoons, 35 East Philadelphia Ave.; Bause’s Super Drug Store, 42 East Philadelphia Ave.; The Liberty Fire Station 17, 21 Henry Ave.; and Rader’s Beverage 191 County Line Road, opened their generous hearts to provide items needed for a fund raising effort during Boyertown’s 3rd Saturday event, Dog Days of Summer, August 16, 2008.
With over 200 dogs walking through the Main Street District, Building a Better Boyertown (BBB) hosted a hot dog sale to raise funds for the Boyertown Community Library during the hours of the event which raised over $490. Senator Michael O’Pake stopped in town to visit the library and presented a check for $5000, and Hard Bean Café, 128 East Philadelphia Ave., donated a check for $100.
This effort would not have been possible if it were not for the thoughtfulness and support of such a charitable community. The support of the Boyertown community is overwhelming and all the contributors’ and volunteers should be applauded for their openheartedness and support to their community

Volunteering for Building a Better Boyertown

About Building a Better Boyertown
The Mission of Building a Better Boyertown is to keep Boyertown a special place by preserving its historical heritage, maintaining its link to the past and cultivating a vibrant present and prosperous future by providing the opportunities for business, industry, and the arts while enhancing the quality of life today and for future generations.

What is Building a Better Boyertown (BBB)?
BBB is one of one-hundred and seven participating non-for-profit Main Street Revitalization Organization’s which are funded through the Pennsylvania Downtown Center (PDC) for a period of five years. After those five years each Main Street Organization must be self sustaining. At this current time, BBB is in year 4 out of 5 of this funding.

BBB is dedicated solely to the revitalization of the Boyertown community. We provide Outreach, Business Retention Assistance and Business Recruitment for vacant properties, Visual Merchandising Assistance, Façade Improvements Grants, Grants for Planters, Promotional Activities and Events for the community and businesses, and more, per the National Main Street’s Four Point Approach to communities. BBB is a strong advocate for the Boyertown Community initiative and is active in many strategic partnerships which promote revitalization and reinvestment in the community.

Volunteering

Volunteers sustain the grassroots of revitalization efforts. True revitalization of a community requires well-planted coordination, with volunteers leading the charge. The volunteers of BBB are the backbone of such a successful organization.

Our volunteers obtain a first-rate sense of worth from being a fundamental element of the community, knowing that they are the grounds for Boyertown being a “Special Kind of Place”. Community revitalization is a team effort and BBB needs your help in reaching its goals for Boyertown.

With five core committees, four sub-committees, a Farmers Market, monthly events and an administrative office, BBB always has a place for volunteering, whether it meets community members short or long term commitment goals, we have a volunteer position for everyone.
